An Evening for Jack with Paul Reddick * Postponed

Notice of Postponement Due to COVID-19

Monday, March 16, 2020

Like everyone else in the world, Hugh’s Room Live is closely monitoring the situation around the COVID-19 outbreak. Based on the information currently available, we have made the painfully difficult decision to postpone all shows through to the end of April, effective immediately.
If you have tickets for a postponed show, please watch for more information about rescheduling. We will notify every ticket holder when a new date and venue are found for each the shows on our calendar. If you are unable to attend a rescheduled show, we ask everyone to please consider their ticket purchase a donation to Hugh’s Room Live instead of requesting a refund. As a non-profit registered charity, we will gladly send you a tax receipt for the equivalent amount of your purchase.

Like so many art, culture and hospitality organizations, our artists and staff are struggling greatly during this time. We encourage everyone in our audience here to continue supporting live music wherever possible until we reach the other side of this pandemic that has so devastated the arts and culture of our society. We will of course be reevaluating our decision on a daily basis as we navigate the new circumstances around the pandemic, please know that your continued support, understanding and advocacy in the interim will add much-needed sustainability to our venue and industry at large. Thank you.

An Evening for Jack with Paul Reddick
Advance $25 / Door $30 *

Doors: 6:00PM
Performance: 8:30PM

On November 19, 2018, my husband, Jack, died of cancer. On March 21, 2019, we celebrated his life with a concert at Hughs Room Live called “A Night for Jack with Paul Reddick”. We heard great blues, had a lot of fun, and raised over $5000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. Jack would have been absolutely thrilled. He was a huge fan of Paul’s and indeed it was Paul’s album, Ride the One, that we played as Jack died.

It’s time to do it again,

Please join me on March 26, 2020 for A Night for Jack with Paul Reddick 2.0. We won’t mess with a solid formula – the same great blues from Paul and his band, excellent a la carte dinner from the Hugh’s Room Live kitchen, some fun with a silent auction with items on offer to suit every taste and every pocketbook, and some words about the importance of cancer research.

See you soon,

Celia Chandler

Justin Haynes was a thoughtful, hilarious man with an enormous talent, an empathetic heart, and a mental illness.

He was a good soul who struggled to make the best of a tumultuous life. He was a devoted father, a brilliant artist, and a rigorous teacher and mentor. A sonic master, he played guitar and piano with a deft hand and a keen ear. He composed beautiful, mercurial music, some of it complex and dissonant, much of it sweet and delicate – all of it artful, inquisitive, and endlessly inventive. He was a significant contributor to the big community of creative musicians in Toronto, a prolific, boundary-pushing improvisor, and an enthusiastic collaborator and composer.

Joyraiser for Julian
$50.00 – $100.00 *

Who has two thumbs (and cancer) and loves to laugh?
Diagnosed in January of 2018, Julian Warrick is fighting stage 4 colon cancer with all his heart. Doing everything he can to battle the disease, but incurring the steep costs of travel and treatment, Julian enlisted in drug trials in Nashville in the hopes of finding an effective treatment. The fight continues but time is precious.

Join us as we throw him an epic ‘joyraiser’ to lift his spirits and fundraise money for his wife, Alex and 4 year old daughter, Audrey.

Julian is a huge fan of comedy and has hand-picked some of Canada’s top comedians to entertain you and give us and Julian a night of laughter to remember. Let’s join together as an army of joy-raisers to show the Warricks our support.

K. Trevor Wilson (Letterkenny)
Arthur Simeon (Laugh Out Loud, The Debaters)
(Host) Leonard Chan (Just for Laughs)
Courtney Gilmour

If we are lucky, Julian might even try his hand at stand up.

Tickets range from $50 to $100.

All proceeds benefit Julian’s treatment and help his family.

Sept. 17th – Doors at 7pm. Show Starts at 8pm.

If you are unable to attend but would still like to give – you can make a donation via Eventbrite or by visiting Julian’s Go Fund Me page.

She’s Listening for Ovarian Cancer Research

She’s Listening for Ovarian Cancer Research
$15 Advance / $20 Door

This will prove to be an amazing evening of music in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 right here at Hugh’s Room Live. There will be a beautiful cast of vocalists and musicians including Saffron A, Sarah Siddiqui, Mikalyn Hay, Brooklyn Doran, Hadley McCall Thackston and Madison Galloway as well as a few more TBA. For great music toward a great cause, join us at Hugh’s Room Live.

She’s Listening

She’s Listening began as a fundraising concert December 7, 2012 at Bassline Station in Ottawa with the Four Winds and Kelly Sloan. The Winds and Kelly took up the cause, and the Winds became a driving force behind keeping the momentum going and turning a single benefit into an ongoing series of concerts and CD.  A second concert took place April 21 at Luneta Bistro with Angie and Louise Arsenault, Kristine St-Pierre, Sophia Radisch and Meg La Grand. It was here that the CD project was born and the first CD produced with tracks from Andrea Ramolo, Angela Saini, Angie Arsenault, Jenny MacDonald, and mofre.

She’s Listening will become a crucial weapon in the arsenal of the battle against ovarian cancer. Funds raised will go to Ovarian Cancer Canada.

An Evening for Jack with Paul Reddick

An Evening for Jack with Paul Reddick
Advance $25.00 / Door $30.00 *

On November 19, 2018, my husband, Jack, died of cancer. He has been most of my life for the past nine years and during the last fourth months of his battle, he was my entire life.

I want part of my recovery to involve real action. Part of that action will come through awareness campaigns to draw attention to legislative failures on the topic of medically-assisted suicide, and another will be through fundraising for cancer. It is on this second actionable course that I am presenting a performance by Canadian blues legend, Paul Reddick.

I have already raised nearly $7000 towards the Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer, well on my way to the $10,000 target I set for myself. If you’ve contributed, thank you. If you’d like to contribute or join the team, please join us at Hugh’s Room Live for a night to remember.

Jack would have been absolutely thrilled. He was a huge fan of Paul’s and indeed it was Paul’s album, Ride the One, that we played as Jack died.

For this charitable performance, I invite everyone to spend an evening with me to honour Jack’s memory and contribute to a good cause. The evening will include both a performance Paul Reddick and a wonderful Silent Auction with items Miraj Hammam Spa at the Shangri La Hotel, from One Restaurant at the Hazelton Hotel, a bouquet from Petite Studio, a portrait shoot from Sweetheart Empire, our wedding photographer, a wine kit from Main West U Brew

* Advertised pricing excludes taxes and fees.
