The Wilkinsons is a Canadian country music trio from Trenton, Ontario. Founded in 1997, the group consists of lead singer Amanda Wilkinson, her brother Tyler Wilkinson, and their father, Steve Wilkinson. The Wilkinsons achieved success late in 1998 with the hit single “26 Cents”, a Number One on the Canadian country music charts and Top 5 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. It was followed by “Fly (The Angel Song)”, also a No. 1 in Canada. A second album, Here and Now, produced the group’s last American top 40 hit in “Jimmy’s Got a Girlfriend”. Afterward, the trio recorded three more albums, one of which was not released, and of course a greatest hits package.

Diyet + The Love Soldiers

Diyet + the Love Soldiers
Advance $20.00 / Door $25.00 *

Diyet & The Love Soldiers is alternative country, folk, roots and traditional with catchy melodies and stories deeply rooted in Diyet’s Indigenous world view and northern life. Backed by Love Soldiers: husband and collaborator, Robert van Lieshout and Juno Award winning producer, Bob Hamilton; this multi-instrumental trio from the Yukon has a sound that can fill a big stage or capture an intimate room.

Diyet was born in a tent and spent her childhood “in the bush” or rather was brought up on the ancestral lands of her people in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Coming from a family rooted in traditions but tempered with a good sense of adventurous hippie attitudes, Diyet has created a musical presence that is as diverse as her Southern Tutchone, Tlingit, Japanese and Scottish heritage.

She got her start singing on the school bus, went on to acquire a degree in music, then became a published songwriter in Vancouver, BC. When the pull of the North was too strong, she packed her bags, and her Dutch husband, moving back to her village without a plan or even a pub to play in. The result of this unlikely career move has been international collaborations; touring in Canada and Europe;and three acclaimed albums. Diyet tours nationally in Canada and internationally in Europe. Performance highlights include major folk, jazz, and multi-disciplinary festivals in Canada, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and Mundial Montreal.

Continuing to live with feet firmly planted in two worlds, Diyet’s adventurous and sometimes chaotic life is on full display in her music. She often says, “Yesterday, fishing for our dinner on the ice, the next day, on the stage singing for you!”

“A retro treat” – New Canadian Music

A little boy sits at the top of the stairs. He is supposed to be in bed, but he can’t help but be drawn to the toe-tapping, lush sound of twin fiddles and a steel guitar coming from his parent’s party music down below. As the music lilts, a new love is born.

Fast forward 30 years and that little boy is now a grown man at the top of the Canadian country music scene. He has married, his wife also an accomplished vocalist. Together, they dream about playing the music they love and creating a new traditional sound of their own. The Western Swing Authority is the product of that very dream.

The Western Swing Authority is Shane Guse (fiddle, vocals), Stacey Lee Guse (vocals), Ed “Pee Wee Charles” Ringwald (steel guitar), Dan Howlett (fiddle, vocals), Paul “Chappy” Chapman (guitar and vocals), Matthew Lima (stand up bass) and Jimmy Boudreau (drums).

This stellar cast of musical peers and friends not only share a common love of Western Swing music, but together create a sound that fuses the old with the new, paying homage to the roots of traditional music in their own “new classic” original songs.

The WSA is a favourite with music lovers of all genres and ages. Their live shows are upbeat and fun, and the musicianship top-level.

Though individual members’ touring and recording credits are impressive, including names like Gordon Lightfoot and Dean Brody, it is the sum of the parts that is garnering attention and recognition worldwide.
