SING! Looper’s Delight featuring FreePlay & Friends
May 31 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm$20 – $25
Explore the art of live-looping in a cappella, taking solo and duo performances to heights made possible with innovative technology. Be amazed as intricate sonic landscapes unfold before your ears. Featuring FreePlay (Dylan Bell and Suba Sankaran) as they officially launch their brand new album, Go Back Forward, the concert will also include guest performances by fellow loopers Dammien Alexander, Ro Randall and host John-Michael Erlendson.
FreePlay: Described as “inspired eclecticism,” FreePlay takes you from the concert halls of Europe, to the jazz clubs of Manhattan, from the temples of India to their native Toronto… all without leaving your seat. Using nothing but their voices and innovative live-looping techniques, Dylan Bell and Suba Sankaran effortlessly cross musical boundaries to create a concert of endless variety. Plus be one of the first to purchase their new album, Go Back Forward.
Dammien Alexander: Philadelphia-born singer/songwriter, Dammien Alexander has performed internationally with several bands and as a solo artist. Recently signed to Underground Sun, he has released both an EP, Eros XPXP, and an album, Love + Infinty.
Ro Randall: Using the simple Boss VE-5 looper, Ro Randall ‘builds’ songs live from scratch, performing her own original material, interpretations of cover songs of many genres, as well as mash-ups: playful composites made from recognizable pieces of well-known songs. Her styles span genres including hip hop, rock, tribal, and pop.
J-M Erlendson: An accomplished beatboxer who sings with a cappella groups Countermeasure, Beatsync, and the Ruach Singers, Erlendson will host the evening and perform a couple of solo numbers of his own.
