Jewish Music Week presents What’s It All About – The Burt Bacharach/Hal David Songbook
May 14, 2015 @ 8:30 pm$25 – $35
It’s about one of the greatest song-writing partnerships in popular music history. The team of Bacharach and David gave us such hits as What the World Needs Now is Love, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, What’s New Pussycat, Alfie and many more timeless gems. Their songs have been sung by everyone from Dionne Warwick to Austin Powers. Meet us at Toronto’s favourite cabaret club as musical theatre stars Elicia Mackenzie and Thom Allison join with top Toronto vocalists Lorraine Lawson, Lori Cullen and surprise guests for an action-packed evening when the hits keep coming. Hosted by Aliza Spiro, featuring the Burt Bacharach Orchestra with musical arrangements by Simon Spiro.
Thom Allison made his Broadway debut in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He has been nominated for more theatrical awards than space allows us to list, and he will soon be seen in the new TV series KILLJOYS on the SyFy/Space channels. www.thomallison.com
Elicia MacKenzie was the winner of TV’s “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?”, going on to star in The Sound of Music for which she received a Dora Award . She has starred in Rock of Ages, Shrek the Musical, and most recently Cannibal the Musical. www.eliciamackenzie.ca
Lorraine Lawson has been called “Canada’s Mariah Carey” by the National Post, and is one of the most sought after singers and vocal coaches in Toronto. She has sung all over the world and has released three critically acclaimed jazz and pop CDs. www.thestarstudio.ca
