Season Finale with The Marigolds (Suzie Vinnick, Gwen Swick, Caitlin Hanford) and Andrew Craig
Once you have experienced a Gospel Lunch with Ken Whiteley, you will want to savour more. Whiteley, one of Canada’s most respected roots musicians and recording producers, always presents an open-ended range of musical styles and forms of spiritual expression at these Sunday afternoon Gospel sessions.
This month’s Gospel Lunch Matinée, is this season’s finale, featuring special guests The Marigolds and Andrew Craig.
Charismatic! Gwen Swick, Suzie Vinnick and Caitlin Hanford, three of Canada’s top singer/songwriters, have combined their talents to form the Marigolds. Part bluesy, part jazzy, and part traditional country and bluegrass, the Marigolds specialize in angelic harmonies and gutsy playing. Delivering with skill and grace, the Marigolds are a roots-music supergroup in full bloom.
Andrew Craig is a true Renaissance man in the arts: singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer, director, broadcaster, impresario, and content creator. In August 2017, the TD Niagara Jazz Festival invited Andrew to perform a headliner concert. Andrew took this opportunity to write a whole new suite of songs, and form a new trio with guitarist TJ Whitelaw and drummer Otis Williams. The “AC Soul Trio” is a confluence of jazz, funk, R & B, soul, gospel and calypso and Reggae influences, this new album represents an artistic goal Andrew has been chasing for much of his career: finding the nexus point at the centre of Black music genres that originated in North America and the Caribbean.
