Join us at Hugh’s Room for a truly unique event as we celebrate with poetry and music the official launch of the new anthology 50+ Poems for Gordon Lightfoot. Toronto Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke is our honorary host for an evening which will feature readings by selected contributors to the anthology including Anne Michaels, Marty Gervais, Carolyn Smart, Paul Vermeersch, Halli Villegas, Barry Dempster and more. The Mariposa Folk Foundation will present live music in the Lightfoot vein featuring Jory Nash , Katherine Wheatley & Jason Fowler with some very Special Musical Guests also dropping by.
50+ Poems for Gordon Lightfoot features poems from over fifty poets from across Canada and some from the United States as well. It includes Governor General Award winners, Griffin Poetry Prize winners, and the former poets laureate of both Canada and the United States.
This specially commissioned poetry anthology is published by The Old Brewery Bay Press, an imprint of the Leacock Museum National Historic Site in Orillia, Ontario. Publication is made possible through the generous support of the Scott Griffin Foundation and the Mariposa Folk Foundation.
